"I still continued to be very loose with what I posted online until we began moving into an era of 'cancel culture' and hyper-awareness."
“I have changed the way I communicate online to be more sensitive to who might be reading it and aware of cultural and social differences. I used to be far more ignorant in this regard and would write from a very "Western" worldview but now I'm warier of that and try to stay neutral in my digital communications or recognise the implications of the culture in which I was raised. I started to think this way at Uni… but I still continued to be very loose with what I posted online until we began moving into an era of ‘cancel culture’ and hyper-awareness of people doing cringe or problematic things on the internet. Then I became too embarrassed to post with the same freedom I used to but also don't want to anymore because it would make me a social outcast or expose me to criticism, which gives me a lot of anxiety.” - Elias
