"When it happened it impacted me so much I left social media."
“This happened a few years ago and was part of the reason I left social media before returning this year. It was on a [FB dog group]. There was some nasty people commenting on someone’s post about their dog not looking quite right and I was trying to defend the person and de-escalate the situation. The people ended up turning on me and people started having a go at my dogs. This was happening throughout a whole day while I was trying to work. It was the fact it was a gang of people saying hurtful things to others and then because they were being told to stop they turned their attention to me. All I felt was hurt… I knew it wasn’t true but I felt devalued… When it happened it impacted me so much I left social media. Long term I came to realise that these people are just sad and their words were just baseless. This is probably the single most significant event of keyboard warriors doing what they do best.” – Female, 35, QLD - Valeria
